BA and UX: Intrinsically Incompatible?

Speaker

Is it possible for the same individual to do both BA and UX work, or is that just crazy? Why would you even want to? Do the roles overlap, or do they just look as if they do? If it’s possible to combine them effectively, then how do you do that? Nick will look at some research into these questions and draw some conclusions from practical experience as well.

Nick de Voil has been working on information systems projects for nearly 30 years, in a number of different roles including business analyst, UX consultant, project manager and developer. He’s the Member Experience Director of IIBA UK and is a member of UXPA UK. He’s also a Certified Management Consultant and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

How to sell UX and BA

Speaker

Ian Worley will talk about how senior management see the difference between UX and BA approaches, and the reason why we must work together. He will also give his guidance on the soft skills we all need to master in order to thrive working on challenging projects in complex businesses.

Ian has been working in and shaping the world of UX for over 20 years. He began his career as an architect in New York but quickly found himself drawn into the wild west of the internet at the dawn of the web in 1992 where he was asked to design a hypertext house for a friend. Now as global head of User Experience and Design at the investment bank Morgan Stanley, Ian leads a team of over 45 people in 4 locations designing cutting edge software, including the award winning Morgan Stanley Matrix.
