Online Event - Zoom

We know that design systems provide convenient design components that serve as guidelines to scale both design and development of products, but a lot has to happen under the hood in order to ensure your design system remains consistent.

We’ll be hearing from two speakers who have experience navigating through the intricacies of Design Systems – both new & inherited systems.

Schedule:

The System's Advocate: How to pitch and negotiate a design system.

Speaker

Eli Montgomery, Head of User Experience at Cazoo.

Eli Montgomery

Eli Montgomery helps companies find their customers, meet their needs, and build viable businesses. Companies like AT&T, Amazon, and Pivotal have worked with Eli to advance their design, data science, and product management practices.

You’re trying to get the go ahead for a design system. People still don’t know what it is, how it works, or why it’s important. In this talk Eli Montgomery will help you learn how to pitch a design system and get from “yes” to your first component. Learn some techniques for creating shared understanding, managing opposition and clarifying benefits without overselling.

Understanding your design system's health.

Speaker

Christos Kastritis, Product Designer – Design Systems & Operations at Deliveroo.

Christos Kastritis

Managing one design system can be challenging, so how about two? In this talk, Christos will share insights about the Experience Ops team at Deliveroo, including his experience with inheriting two design systems. He’ll be sharing his voyage in understanding the health of their design systems. And also how that allowed them to focus on the right opportunities with confidence. He will be sharing the methods and measures that he has used to get a pulse on their two design systems here at Deliveroo, as well as answering some tough questions around bringing value to design systems and how to measure success when building out design systems.
