UX in the Food Industry

2020

18:30 - 20:00

Online Event - Zoom

For the first time ever we have dedicated an evening all to our two favourite topics – UX & Food.

We won’t mention the dreaded word that starts with a _c_ and ends in a _d_-19 because let’s face it – we’re all a bit frustrated with it, but we have all had to adapt. Most notably the food industry, in particular, food delivery have also had to adapt.

We’ll hear from three designers on how they’re users had to stop and pivot and how it’s affected their design and research processes.

We hope you’ll virtually join us on Thursday, September 24th at 18:30PM (BST).

This event was curated by our UXPA-UK committee member, Annalisa Valente.

Restaurants are hurting. The past 6 months have challenged every aspect of how they traditionally operate.

In times like these it’s important to have a partner rooting for your success. That’s why at Deliveroo we build tools for restaurants to help them grow their business. Whether it’s Delivery, Pickup, or Table Service – our new, contact-free way to order and pay in-store. Our mission is to help restaurants not only survive COVID-19, but thrive during these uncertain times.

As designers, this has meant finding new ways of gathering feedback from restaurants we can no longer visit. Expediting releases in a responsible way so partners can get the support they need, faster. And working more collaboratively than ever across a three-sided marketplace to adapt to new realities.

About Alex:

Alex Manthei is a Product Designer at Deliveroo, where he designs for restaurants. Originally from Tucson, AZ, he’s also lived in Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Paris. Before Deliveroo, he worked at Trainline, Europe’s leading train and coach app, and Lyst, the global fashion search engine. You can find him tweeting about design and using a lot of emojis @xoalexo.

What’s behind the red box?

I will take you behind the scenes of what goes into making our red Gousto boxes.

It will cover at a broad level how our teams are set up, how we prioritise what opportunities to pursue, validating and productionising solutions whilst offering value to our customers during COVID-19.

It will mainly focus on the digital product side, rather than operational but I will give some examples of how it’s all connected.

About Ray:

Hello, I’m Ray, a Product Designer at Gousto. I’ve always been passionate about food hence why the majority of my professional experience has been in FoodTech. Starting my career at Graze, a snacking company, then wanted to get agency experience and worked with Brakes Bros, a B2B wholesale food distribution company before coming to Gousto. This does mean that I’m always hungry as I’m forever looking at photos of food!
