As the UX job market is experiencing a surge in UX Research hires, now is a great time to shine the light on the practitioners working in diverse and exciting areas within the field. As any researcher knows, no two days in the job are the same but that is part of what makes this work so rewarding.
We hope that you can join us to hear three talks from UX Researchers working across the spectrum of diverse workplaces who will share a little about their projects and hold a short panel discussion that everyone can benefit from, whether you are a designer or a consultant.

UX and Animals: Complex Problems
Dr. Ilyena Hirskyj-Douglas, Postdoctoral Researcher, Aalto University, Finland.
Ilyena likes to design and build systems for animals that improve their lives. As one of the worlds top researchers of animal technology, Ilyena started her career in looking at how we can develop systems for dogs to use while home alone. With user-centred values at the core, Ilyena has evolved into creating a dog-to-dog internet, animal controlled systems, and musical systems for monkeys. Through examples of her work, Ilyena will raise questions and challenges of designing animal technology to give guidance on how, we humans, can quantify the user experience of animals.
