The UXPA UK committee is made up of enthusiastic volunteers from the community. As an organisation we’re constantly growing and evolving. We are currently looking to fill in the following committee positions:

  • Mentoring Support Leads,
  • Communications Officer,
  • Industry Liaison Officer,
  • Academic/Student Liaison Officer,
  • Events Support,
  • Website Support.

Mentoring Support Leads

  • Take overall responsibility for the UXPA UK mentoring scheme at Committee Level and investigate ways it can be enhanced for the benefit of UXPA UK members.
  • Work collaboratively with the Mentoring Manager and other Project Leads to ensure the mentoring scheme runs effectively.
  • Take responsibility for responding to mentoring scheme queries in a timely manner.
  • Match mentees with mentors, perform introductions and periodically check on the status of mentoring arrangement.
  • Maintain and update the list of mentors on the UXPA UK website.
  • Maintain a record of communication with mentees and mentors.
  • Support documentation is available.

Communications Officer

  • Write and send the monthly newsletter with a focus on ensuring communication regarding UXPA UK events is complete and accurate.
  • Address any communication-related enquirers and manage the members Slack channel.
  • Periodically update and maintain content on other social media channels (e.g.: YouTube).
  • Collect and collate newsworthy items for the UX community (with the support of all committee members, and volunteers).
  • Assist in monitoring and manage the @UXPAUK Twitter account.

Academic/Student Liaison Officer

  • Increase student engagement in UXPA activities including promotion of UXPA UK membership, attending events, volunteering and assisting in committee activities.
  • Represent students and recent graduates at committee level within the UXPA UK.
  • Identify and communicate with potential speakers or workshop facilitators for our regular monthly events from the academic sector.
  • Keep up to date with academic courses being offered and have a working knowledge to advise prospective students of UX related courses.
  • Seek out collaboration opportunities and build relationships with academic partners.

Website Support Project Lead

  • Manage and maintain the UXPA UK jobs board.
  • Maintain a snag-list and liaise with our external developer to implement enhancements.
  • Work with the committee produce a development roadmap for the UXPA UK website including integration of membership and events management software.
  • Source relevant and appropriate content for the UXPA UK website
  • Knowledge of WordPress and HTML is required.

Events Support Project Lead

  • With support and guidance from the Events Manager, the primary responsibility of the Events Support role is to co-ordinate the planning and ensure the smooth running of UXPA UK events.
  • Support event curators in collecting publicity materials for events, including leading with speakers and contributors.

Currently all UXPA UK events are being held remotely. Currently, we have no indication if or when Government advice will allow us to hold viable in-person events in 2021.

When in-person events are re-introduced this role has the potential to become more active and additional responsibilities can include:

  • Being available on the day of and attending the event. UXPA UK events are generally scheduled to be held in the evening (18:00 – 21:00) of the 3rd Thursday of the month for approximately 100 people.
  • With assistance from the Events Manager, liaising with the venue to ensure facilities will be available and the event space set-up as required.
  • Co-ordinate with the Events Manager to ensure that food and drink is set-out at the venue in time for the event. Note: The Events Manager is responsible for ordering food and drink for the event.
  • Ensure badges are printed for all registered attendees and are delivered to the venue or collected from the printers.
  • Provide an attendee register to be used on the evening.
  • Manage volunteers for each event, allocating responsibilities, providing detailed briefings and monitoring completion.
