Elections and other ways to get involved

It’s time once again for our annual committee nominations and elections.

The committee of UXPA UK recently decided to reduce the number of committee roles from 16 to 10, and introduce new roles that we call Project Leads or Managers. This was done in order to streamline committee procedures and at the same time allow more people to get involved with shaping our offering to the community. Read on to find out how you can get involved with UXPA UK in 2015 – and don’t forget, we’re always looking for enthusiastic people to help us promote and run our monthly events!

Committee roles

Committee members are elected for 2-year terms and are expected to attend monthly committee meetings in person or by phone, and monthly events (unless they do not reside in London). We are currently inviting nominations for the Communications Officer position on the committee. If you think you could be the one to evolve our communication strategy and delivery, check our elections procedure and deadlines.

Project Leads

Project Leads or Managers are appointed by the committee and are tasked to look after short or long-term projects, without the monthly responsibilities of meetings and events. They normally report to a committee member but have control over their projects and the responsibility in meeting their targets.

We are currently looking to fill the following roles, so if you think it could be you, or would like to know more about it, email Stavros or talk to one of us at our next event:

  • Student Liaison Lead
  • Workshops Manager
  • Social Media Manager
  • Design Lead

Perhaps there is a Project Lead role missing? What are you passionate about and how can UXPA UK help you support the UX community?

Volunteers

We hold regular monthly events and host a series of workshops throughout the year. Attendance has been growing and we need reliable pairs of hands to help us run these events. This can be on either regular or ad hoc basis, and can involve tweeting, taking photographs, video recording, helping at the door or restocking refreshments.
AGM

If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved, make sure you attend our Annual General Meeting on November 6th. Invitations have been sent to all paid members (let Monica know if you have not received yours)
